Students in this major choose an area of emphasis in either Advertising or Public Relations. Advertising professionals promote products, services and ideas through a variety of media to persuade and influence audiences. PR professionals create and communicate messages and campaigns that enhance an organization’s relationship with its people. Advertising and PR professionals exist in every industry, including  agencies, corporations, nonprofits, government, education, entertainment, sports, healthcare and other public-sector fields.

Brittany Osteen

spent a semester abroad at the University of Kent, where she studied contemporary culture and media. She has served as the president of WVU’s award-winning chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America and contributed to Martin Hall Agency, a student-run communications service. She helped organize the PRSSA Regional Conference, Wired and Wonderful, and participated in the College of Media Women’s Hackathon on Diversifying AI.
