Eric M. Winkfield is a skilled communicator with a myriad of experience. He is continuously evolving in the changing media and technological landscapes.
He joined Pepco, a public utility owned by Exelon that provides service to customers in Washington, D.C. and to surrounding communities in Maryland, as a communications specialist and was promoted to public affairs manager after a year.
As a communications specialist and spokesperson for Pepco Holdings, he was responsible for developing, managing and implementing integrated communications strategies that supported the company’s objectives. He is adept at targeting a variety of diverse audiences through earned and owned media.
In his role as a public affairs manager, Winkfield is charged with aiding the company in advancing community outreach, public policy and stakeholder engagement strategies for the District of Columbia.
As an experienced communications professional with a demonstrated history of working in complex industries, He is skilled in media strategy, public affairs, integrated marketing communications, and market research. Prior to joining Pepco, Winkfield held roles with companies such as Edelman, NBC Universal, Universal Pictures and West Virginia University.
Winkfield received his Bachelor of Science in public relations from Florida A&M University and his Masters of Science in integrated marketing communications from West Virginia University.
He is an active member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). While in college, he served on the national committee of PRSSA as the vice president of advocacy. During his term he led national programming on ethics, diversity and inclusion for the society.
He is passionate about advocating and helping others grow to become their best and authentic selves. In 2018, he received the Emerging Leader Award from the Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations for his unwavering commitment to mentoring. Winkfield is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., serves on the board of advisors for After-School All-Stars DC and is graduate of Leadership Montgomery County.
