Eastern Market in DC seeks marketing and promotions manager

The Eastern Market in Washington, D.C., a federally funded food and art market on Capitol Hill, is seeking a marketing and promotions manager

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serves as the Marketing and Promotions Manager for Eastern Market organizing events, writing text and designing layouts for all promotional materials. Requirements include:

  • Writing press releases
  • Being the primary author and designer of monthly eNewsletter, coordinating with volunteers, vetting articles, writing articles
  • Ability to develop brochures and print ads
  • Posting daily Facebook and engaging the community through this and other social media outlets
  • Conceptualizing and executing five annual events that include all parts of Eastern Market (indoor merchants, outdoor vendors, North Hall)
  • Managing and growing the Fresh Tuesdays Market
  • Tracking success of marketing program

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as communications, English, journalism or business
  • Strong written skills with demonstrated experience in writing and editing copy
  • Ability to interact in a team environment
  • Highly skilled in the Microsoft Office suite: particularly Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage budgets and measure event ROI
  • Familiarity with the business development process for professional services desired
  • Ability to use a layout program such as InDesign or equivalent
  • Ability to manage volunteers
