WVU ICPE Seeks PR Specialist

West Virginia University has an opening for a newly created position, Public Relations Specialist of the International Center for Performance Excellence (ICPE), who will oversee the marketing and publicity activity for ICPE and its publishing division, Fitness Information Technology (FIT), situated within the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences.

The Public Relations Specialist will be responsible for designing and implementing strategies for effectively distributing and promoting books and journals published by FIT as part of its overall marketing and sales program. In accomplishing the goals of heightening the visibility of the ICPE and increasing the distribution of FIT’s products, s/he will develop and prepare informational and promotional materials, respond to requests for information, and disseminate information to various media outlets.

The ideal candidate will have experience in publishing or marketing (preferably in academic publishing) and should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. The candidate should be self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and work independently or as part of a team. The candidate should have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, an interest in developing trends in social media networks, and a basic knowledge of web 2.0 tools.

Fitness Information Technology is a premier publisher of books, journals, and digital products in the sport sciences. FIT specializes in publishing products in sport management, sport and exercise psychology, sport and cultural studies, physical education, and coaching education.
