Position: Communications and Media Specialist
Division of Financial Aid and Outreach Services
Duties: Coordinates the development, maintenance, and training for agency’s online educational portal. Works with the Division Director and other commission staff to create a unified image and college access campaign in support of the agency goals. Coordinates, compiles, writes and creates all public relations materials (press releases, PSAs, e-newsletters, radio and television spots, web copy, letters, etc.). Develops and executes a public relations/media and marketing plan for postsecondary education access and the agency’s statewide educational portal. Assists with publicity efforts, promotions, and partnerships with local, regional, and national media in order to promote higher education and college access opportunities. Assists local school districts, and agencies to build strong collaborations between higher education, secondary schools and community agencies. Provides regular communications/newsletters, reports and updates on measurable outcomes regarding financial aid. Assists in the collection and analysis of data in order to develop marketing strategies and achieve the mission of the Financial Aid Department and the agency. Create a Financial Aid Outreach Services Division website and coordinate relevant web content and site updates. Works closely with institutional financial aid staff to meet communication objectives. Works with various constituencies to promote improved college access. Coordinates the planning and production of communications and materials, including newsletter articles, radio and television spots, fliers, ads, brochures, reports, posters, etc.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations or in related field with two (2) years of communications/public relations and/or public education experience and understanding of integrated marketing. The successful candidate must be goal-oriented with strong organizational skills; proficient with computers; graphics and other software packages. Commitment to team approach is essential
Salary range: $35,000 to $45,000
