Joel Beeson, associate professor in West Virginia University’s Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism, has received a first-place, national award for “Best Practices in Teaching of Diversity” by the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC).
The FBI is looking for someone with video equipment to record a training session on Aug. 12, 2009 from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. The recording session will include a display of graphic photos as well as the training session. The student will not be able to retain a copy of his or her work, however representatives from the FBI will be happy to write a letter describing what the student did so that her or she may get credit for the experience. CBS College Sports Network is currently hiring campus representatives from WVU. Students will gain hands-on marketing experience while working on a variety of campus campaigns. Campus Reps have the unique opportunity to work on initiatives for CBS Sports Network advertisers, CBS College Sports, and all CBS properties.

The US Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District public affairs office is looking for an entry-level public affairs specialist intern. The intern will be responsible for collecting, preparing and disseminating information to a variety of internal and external audiences concerning the District’s programs and projects. Researching available material and interviewing program specialists, technical personnel and other staff to obtain information for use in developing products in appropriate journalistic style and within deadlines assigned by the public affairs officer. Responding to queries for information on the Pittsburgh District and determining the nature of the data required. Proposing to the public affairs officer possible methods for presenting information, composing and distributing routine media releases and maintaining distribution lists. Responding to non-controversial media queries, writing and editing articles for the District, ensuring articles conform to the AP Style Guide, arranging for District participation in special events, proactively seeking and recommending to the public affairs officer opportunities. Assisting, planning and conducting on site outreach activities such as open houses, guided tours and media events.
