The Greater Morgantown Community Trust (GMCT) announces several scholarship opportunities for the 2010-’11 academic year. GMCT will also accept applications for two regional awards.
The Jean and Laurence S. DeLynn Scholarship provides a four-year $20,000 undergraduate award to high school students who are children or grandchildren of current or retired full-time employees of Mylan Laboratories in Morgantown. To confirm eligibility, contact GMCT or human resources at Mylan.
This position is responsible for producing weekly local sports video reports for North Jersey’s local sports leader. Duties include conducting interviews with coaches, players and fans; writing and recording your own stories and narrations; presenting complete packages to management and/or updating Web stories, and hiring and managing a stable of freelance video journalists to cover games. This person will also be responsible for producing a weekly highlights show, including writing, shooting, reporting, and editing all aspects of the 12-minute show.
Candidates will have three years of broadcast experience (in front of and/or behind the camera) for Web site or television, one year of supervisory experience and extensive knowledge of the local sports landscape. They also must possess excellent journalistic and writing skills; effective broadcast communication skills and strong on-camera reporting skills. Knowledge of Sony Vegas Pro or other industry-standard video editing platforms is required, as is the ability to adapt and learn new software and technical procedures. Photoshop, content management tools and Flash are a plus. Travel will be required.

Any undergraduate who is performing faculty-mentored research in any university department may apply for publication. The research papers are reviewed by qualified faculty members at WVU, and are reviewed and edited by a Student Editorial Board.
