Apply now for Poynter's 2010 College Fellowship

The Poynter Institute is a school and resource for journalism located in St. Petersburg, Florida. It was founded in May 1975 by Nelson Poynter, chairman of the St. Petersburg Times and Congressional Quarterly. Poynter’s 2010 College Fellowship (May 16-28) is an intensive, two-week program in which students work in a classroom and on a beat to report and produce stories about the local community. Students will have countless opportunities for one-on-one coaching with Poynter faculty and professional journalists.

  • Forty Poynter Fellows will be selected.
  • The cost is $1,795.
  • Some scholarship money is available. You are responsible for travel and housing. (Affordable accommodations have been arranged nearby.)
  • The Fellowship is open to college juniors, seniors, grad students and recent graduates interested in all forms of journalism.

To Apply, you will need to send:

  • A completed application
  • A 500-word essay (details online)
  • Your bio
  • A letter of reference from a faculty adviser
  • Three to five samples of your work.

The deadline for applications is Monday, March 1.
