SOJ alumnus and GolinHarris Executive Vice President Mike Fulton has shared an exciting opportunity for students interested in filmmaking.
GolinHarris, an international public relations firm, is working with the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) to identify candidates for a filmmaking grant opportunity.
NCBA will be awarding film-making grants to three students who will each create their own documentary about how beef gets from our pastures to consumer plates. The videos will be used by NCBA to educate key audiences about how beef is raised.
The program is not open to the general public, so the team is looking for the strongest candidates. The deadline to submit applications is March 19.

Program Synopsis
• Grant – $2,000 (plus $1,000 for travel or other expenses)
• Three current, full-time students, each producing a short documentary-style video (roughly 20 minutes in length)
Student Requirements
• Knowledge of/interest in agriculture or food
• Current full-time student at a post-secondary educational institution
• Written proposal matches with NCBA video project goals
• Willingness to blog/tweet about film-making experience
• Willingness to visit minimum of two farm/ranch operations in May/June
• Availability for media interviews related to this program
• Ability to complete video by July 15, 2010
