The West Virginia University Arts and Entertainment is accepting internships applications for the 2011-2012 academic year. Application Deadline is Feb. 18.
WVU Arts & Entertainment offers a variety of internships designed to develop marketable skills in the area of events management. Our internships provide students with real-world, hands-on experience that will prove to be relevant to their professional endeavors upon graduation.
A&E interns welcome students to FallFest. A&E Interns are hard-working, dedicated undergraduate or graduate students who have a passion for entertainment and a willingness to learn. As a vital part of the A&E team, interns work side-by-side with professionals from one of our three management teams: event operations, marketing, and ticketing.
Event Operations encompasses all front-of and back-of-house logistics, from the technical aspects of the production to event hospitality and patron services. Arts & Entertainment provides front-of-house support for the College of Creative Arts as well.
The Marketing Team promotes A&E productions. Their integrated approach to marketing includes strategic marketing plans, public relations efforts, advertising, and internet advertising.
The Ticketing Team tickets all A&E events in addition to College of Creative Arts performances and special events on campus such as Fall Family Weekend. Ticketsellers work from three primary locations: the Mountainlair Box Office, the Creative Arts Center Box Office and the Arts & Entertainment phone center. Ticketsellers will also work from the Coliseum when we host an event in that building.
Regardless of which career field students choose, these professional-level experiences will translate into valuable skills that employers require in a competitive marketplace. An A&E internship will provide students with an understanding of event management from planning to execution.
Behind the scenes or in front of the crowd, each event experience is designed to enhance student skill levels in the areas of responsibility, customer satisfaction and communications.
Intern candidates must have WVU full-time student status and have achieved a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average. All interns are required to attend group and individual training sessions and are required to work all major A&E events including, but not limited to, FallFest and large concerts/performances.
