YouthUltimate.com seeks journalism student with design and layout experience

YouthUltimate.com is a news website for youth ultimate Frisbee around the world. The site has been in existence since 2005 and has seen massive growth since. Ultimate Frisbee was named the fastest growing sport by the Sporting Goods Manufactures Association in 2010.

YouthUltimate.com is the only website in the world dedicated solely to youth ultimate Frisbee. The site averages around 400 unique visitors a day, but has reached as high as 5,000 on high-volume weekends.

We’re looking to expand our coverage of youth ultimate Frisbee by adding an online magazine to the website. The magazine will be laid out like a regular magazine and displayed on the website using Issuu. The magazine will be between 8-12 pages and will be published 4-6 times per year.

YouthUltimate.com is looking for a highly motivated journalism student who wants to get design experience and design the YouthUltiamte.com online magazine. Creating content would not be required, but could be arranged. This is an unpaid position (everyone at the website is unpaid) but would be a great addition to your portfolio.

It would be the individual’s job to design a template and creative graphics for the magazine. Experience with Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop is needed. In addition, any experience creating or designing documents is preferred. The ability to meet deadlines is crucial, but the time commitment is laid back. After the template for the magazine was created, it would be the individuals responsibility to layout the magazine.

Any interested individuals should contact site manager John Terry at john.terry@mail.wvu.edu.
