Web and social media editor, Bucknell University

The Web and Social Media Editor plays a key role in the success of the communications and marketing efforts of Bucknell University. Founded in Lewisburg, PA in 1846, Bucknell is one of America’s top-ranked liberal arts universities and also its largest. In our idyllic campus setting, Bucknell combines the personal experience of an intimate liberal arts college with first-class research facilities, global study opportunities, and 110 majors and minors in everything from accounting to engineering, neuroscience to theatre. Our 3,450 undergraduates and 150 graduate students come from every state and nearly 60 countries. The Office of Communications is a comprehensive division charged with communicating the Universitys story to the world and encompasses web, digital, video, print, media, social media and other formats. The editor is a crucial member of this creative and proactive communications team.

The editor is responsible for writing, researching and placing news and events stories on the Universitys homepage and key website pages, integrating website and social media content, and playing a key role in developing and coordinating social media content across all platforms in support of the communications and marketing strategy. The editor will report to the Director of Media Communications and work closely with the Director of Digital Communications and the Web Development team to develop and implement digital media initiatives.

The editor will establish a high standard for web and social media content to be emulated by the campus community. The editor will provide assistance to others in developing and managing such content on related University websites and social media, and will build successful relationships with faculty, students and staff to source story ideas, develop website and social media content, and create or support effective story pitches that result in media coverage, op-eds and other media appearances of Bucknell experts.
