Top PR agency CEO to deliver keynote address at WVU School of Journalism's IMC graduate program conference

Fred Cook, CEO of GolinHarris, will discuss the company’s innovative new “g4” model on Saturday, June 2, during his keynote address at the West Virginia University P.I. Reed School of Journalism and Integrated Marketing Communications graduate program’s annual INTEGRATE conference. Cook will share his insights on the need for public relations agencies to re-evaluate how they function and deliver multi-platform results in a rapidly evolving communications industry.

“We’re honored to host a public relations professional of Fred Cook’s stature,” said School of Journalism Dean Maryanne Reed. “The work he has done at GolinHarris is truly innovative and a game-changer for the industry. Our students and faculty and all other conference participants will gain from hearing about his experience redefining public relations in the digital age.”

Tickets on sale for PRSSA Fashion Show

PRSSA will be selling tickets for their Third Annual Charity Fashion Show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Feb. 27-29, March 5-7 and March 12 and13.

Pre-sold tickets can be purchased at the PRSSA booth in the Mountainlair for $3. Ticket cost at the door is $5. All precedes support Morgantown’s Boys and Girls Club.

"WVU News" students claim national, international awards for student-produced newscast

The WVU P.I. Reed School of Journalism students continue to garner national and international recognition for their work on “WVU News.”

The student-produced newscast recently received three international AVA Awards. The newscast’s “Big 12 Special Edition,” produced by Whitney Godwin (BSJ, 2011) of Flatwoods, W.Va., was named a Gold winner; ” September 11th Special Edition,” produced by journalism senior Eva Buchman of Martinsburg, W.Va., earned a Platinum award; and “WVU News Remembers Milan Puskar,” produced by Godwin, received a Platinum award. Administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals, the AVA Awards is an international competition that recognizes outstanding work by creative professionals from audio and video productions to websites and interactive social media sites.

WV FREE seeks public relations summer intern

WV FREE is offering a full-time summer internship that runs for 8 to 12 weeks. Start and stop dates will be mutually agreed upon between the organization and intern.

WV FREE is based in Charleston, WV. Covenant House is offering a full-time, unpaid summer internship to qualified candidates. The internship lasts approximately 8—12 weeks, and start and stop dates will be mutually agreed upon between the agency and intern.

Video production intern needed

A College of Physical Activity and Sports Sciences doctoral student at West Virginia University wants to produce a brief video promoting the dual degree program in sport and exercise psychology and counseling. The purpose of the video is to give perspective students a closer look at the life of a WVU graduate student.

The doctoral student has fully completed an outline of the project and is in need of a journalism student to assist with filming.This is a hands on opportunity to gain experience in video production.
