Index-Journal seeks staff writer/reporter

The Greenwood, SC, Index-Journal, a 15,000-circulation daily newspaper, is looking for a talented, energetic and aggressive staff writer/reporter to join its award-winning team.

The ideal candidate must understand local news matters and can convey that through stories and photos. The ideal candidate must be able to manage several beats while juggling general assignment duties. The ideal candidate must be aggressive, creative and thorough. The ideal candidate must put pride in his/her work and have a passion for journalism.

  • All application packets should include six clips: a.) two breaking news clips. b.) two features. c.) two enterprise stories, showing depth, and quality reporting and writing.
  • All application packets should include a separate sheet with a one-paragraph summary of each of the six clips. The summaries can include how the story was broken, challenges in writing the story or any other pertinent information about the clips.
