Job Summary:

The person in this position will advance the visibility of the College of Business and Economics through social media, web-based and other electronic communications vehicles to various audiences including students, alumni, donors, faculty and staff, and friends of the College. By shedding light on the important activities of the College, this position will broaden the communications pipeline, thus elevating our stature with designated audiences.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for integrating B&E messaging and goals to execute a social media strategy that includes posts to existing social media accounts.
  • Reach out to other departments and units within the College to coordinate social media messaging. Develop a plan for the College that includes all units.
  • Reach out to other WVU Colleges, find new friends/followers, engage existing friends/followers, and respond to posts to B&E pages.
  • Be aware of emerging social media outlets and adopt those that seem relevant to B&E.
  • Communicate with the rest of the B&E Communications and Marketing staff to decide when/where social media should be promoted via the B&E website, news releases, print materials, signage, etc.
  • Conduct market research to determine the most effective posting topics and times.
  • Regular reporting of social media statistics.

B&E Website:

  • Evaluate the B&E website and refer to Google Analytics to determine the target audience and most relevant subject matters.
  • Help develop content for the B&E website and input that content using web templates and/or a web content management system.
  • Stay aware of programmatic and personnel changes throughout the College and make website edits.

B&E Monthly E-News
  • Assist web/graphic designer with adding monthly e-news content to the website using web templates and/or web content management system.
  • Share monthly e-news and all stories/events through social media channels.
  • Encourage friends/followers to subscribe to monthly e-news and update their contact information.
