Sunlight Foundation Seeks "Party Time" Intern

The Sunlight Foundation and its popular Party Time project have an opening for a full-time, paid intern starting immediately in Washington, D.C. The job is ideal for college or graduate students majoring in journalism, political science or other students interested in politics and government.

The Sunlight Foundation is a non-partisan, non-profit organization in Washington, D.C. that is on the cutting edge of technology, transparency and accountability. We use the power of the Internet to enable citizens to learn more about what their elected representatives are doing, thus helping reduce corruption.

The intern will work with a staff of experienced journalists and technologists to enhance a database of fundraisers for members of Congress. Primary responsibilities include data entry and processing; in addition, there will be regular opportunities to write posts for the Party Time blog, which is widely read by the news media.

Applicants must have basic computer skills and should be able to work unsupervised. Attention to detail is a must. The intern will also receive hands-on training in the latest tools citizens and organizations use to hold Congress accountable, including wikis, blogs and other forms of citizen journalism.

Past Party Time interns have found full time jobs at Politico, Congressional Quarterly, the AFL-CIO, the Chronicle of Higher Education, Roll Call and the Sunlight Foundation.

To apply, send a cover letter and resume to jobs@sunlightfoundation.com. The Sunlight Foundation is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
