RTDNA and PRSSA cosponsor blood drive

The WVU chapters of the Radio Television Digital News Association and the Public Relations Student Society of America are co-sponsoring a blood drive from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 21 in Lyon Tower on the Evansdale Campus.

In the Greater Allegheny region alone, the supply of O negative blood will be gone by Friday without willing donors. WVU PRSSA president Brittany Lavenski stresses the importance of donating blood.

“Just one pint of blood can save three lives,” Lavenski said. “Thinking about my loved ones getting injured and suddenly needing blood really puts it all into perspective. It only takes twenty minutes to save three lives.”

Students who donate blood will get two hours of community service. Students can either donate blood or volunteer with the Red Cross to assist the day of the blood drive. Those who volunteer will help with registration, hand out snacks or escort students who have just donated.

To schedule an appointment for a donation, please visit www.redcrossblood.org, and find the correct blood drive. Walk-ins on the day of are also accepted. If you are unable to attend this specific blood drive but would like to donate, please check the other website for more dates in your area.
