Volunteers needed for research project--participants could win $50!

Volunteers are needed to participate in a survey that is designed to understand the effects of different media formats. This research study is being conducted for a doctoral dissertation in the Department of Political Science here at WVU.

You will need to be 18 years of age or older in order to participate. Participation is voluntary; if you choose to participate, you can do so by going to http://wvu.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_cMWLR7jZZ9ddBit.

IMC Program to hold Open House April 6

The School of Journalism’s Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) online graduate program will host an open house on Saturday, April 6 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

The open house will provide the perfect opportunity for interested students to learn more about the program, talk to current IMC students and program graduates, and ask faculty and administrative team members specific questions.

Former J-school professor to speak on cyber-bullying and Facebook

Former SOJ Harrison/Omnicom Professor Dr. Elizabeth Quilliam will present a “brown bag” luncheon research presentation for interested faculty and graduate students Wednesday, March 20, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Mountaineer Room of the Mountainlair.

Now on faculty at Michigan State University, Dr. Quilliam will present research about cyber-bullying and Facebook; afterward, she will discuss doctoral opportunities at MSU for interested master’s students. For more information, contact Dr. Martinelli at diana.martinelli@mail.wvu.edu.

WVU Foundation seeks communications intern

The West Virginia University Foundation is offering a paid internship ($8 per hour) available for summer 2013 and the 2013-14 academic year. The intern must be a West Virginia University student who is able to work 15-20 hours this summer and 10-15 hours during the academic year. The Foundation will work around the intern’s class schedule.

Strong writing skills are a must. Knowledge of digital photography and design software is a plus.

Sportsnet New York accepting internship applications

Sportsnet New York is taking applications beginning the month of March for its summer internship program. This internship, which is unpaid and must be taken for school credit, is available to juniors, seniors and graduate students who have a G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher.

The internship is designed to give students the real world experience at a sports television network. Positions are available in production, news, marketing, programming and sales. Students will work 10-20 hours each week.
