On-call breaking news writer: Accepted writers commit to writing at least twice a week within a time frame agreed upon in advance. During that time, an editor will send a story topic based on the writer’s interests and he/she will craft a 400- to 500-word news analysis piece. We set the on-call deadlines in advance so the writer will know when to expect a story and we know where we can assign stories when news breaks. University students may receive credit for this position.
