Aug. 13 is payment deadline for fall classes

The Office of Student Accounts reminds students of several critical dates related to the tuition billing and payment process. Students who miss these dates are at risk of being removed from their scheduled classes. All students are required to pay at least 60 percent of their Fall 2014 bill by Wednesday, Aug. 13, which is earlier than in past years. Financial aid such as loans and scholarships, in addition to tuition waivers, personal payments, or pending third party contracts will all count toward the total calculation. The critical dates include:

1. Monday, July 14, 2014: Students will receive their first billing notification for fall 2014 via MIX
2. Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014: Students must have paid at least 60 percent of their tuition and other assessed charges
3. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014: Students who do not satisfy the 60 percent minimum payment requirement will be removed from all registered classes.

U.S. State Department seeks applicants for the Virtual Student Foreign Service internships -- Expires July 22!

The Virtual Student Foreign Service (VSFS) is an academic year-long, unpaid eInternship program. VSFS virtually connects U.S. citizen college students with State Department, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Foreign Commercial Service, Foreign Agriculture Service, Broadcasting Board of Governors, and other US government agency domestic offices and U.S. diplomatic posts overseas to engage in digital diplomacy. Because these eInternships are virtual, students can have a flexible virtual work schedule during the academic year, allowing both academic and eInternship goals to be met.

The State Department is looking to American college students to lead the State Department and U.S. Government in conducting digital diplomacy and engage American citizens in its diplomatic efforts. A Virtual Student Foreign Service eInternship is an opportunity to play an important role in advancing the federal government’s reach in diplomacy, development, journalism, trade, and agriculture initiatives. eInterns will act as citizen diplomats and will have the opportunity to connect with each other and work collaboratively with eInterns across the country.
