Hack the Gender Gap: A Women Hackathon on WearablesWhat’s the next big idea for Google Glass and other wearable technology?

You decide.

WVU women are invited to join the Reed College of Media for a women of technology networking and hackathon event October 24-26. The event, “Hack the Gender Gap: A Women Hackathon on Wearables,” is sponsored by PBS MediaShift and the WVU Reed College of Media.

The women-only hackathon will kick off Friday night, October 24, with a Women of Technology Symposium hosted by Google. Panelists will announce the challenge to hackathon participants during the symposium, which will be aired live in Martin Hall.

The hackathon will continue through the day and late into the evening on Saturday as participants work in teams to envision, map and pitch a start-up use for Google Glass or other wearable technology that can deliver a singular idea, product, service or process to solve a problem in the media industry. Rather than a traditional Hackathon focused on coding and building, this one will be about collaboration, team-building and entrepreneurship.

WVU students, faculty and alumni can register before September 26th with the code DISCOUNT for a 20% discount on Early Bird registration.
