Rediscover downtown on a culinary adventure

Morgantown Eat Culinary Crawl 2014

On December 6, Morgantown residents will have the opportunity to sample cuisine from more than a dozen downtown restaurants during the first-ever Morgantown Eats: A Culinary Crawl. Self-guided tours will be available starting at 3 p.m. with groups starting from the Monongalia Arts Center (MAC) at 107 High Street. Participants will be provided with a list of restaurants to tour as well as a map to help avoid directional confusion.

Advanced tickets are now on sale for $35 at MonArtsCenter.com/shop. Day-of event tickets are $40.

Participating restaurants include long-time favorites, as well as new restaurants to the area. Attendees will start their culinary adventure by sampling local beer and food at the MAC. Then they can proceed at their own pace through the list of restaurants, sampling an exclusive menu of treats offered by local businesses on the tour.

The idea for the walking food tour was conceived by 20 students from the WVU Reed College of Media in partnership with Main Street MorgantownMorgantown Social NetworxMonongalia Arts Center (MAC) and Greater Morgantown CVB.

“Our goal is to introduce the amazing food culture we have in Morgantown to both long-time residents, as well as those new to the area,” says Geah Pressgrove, the Reed College of Media professor who is overseeing the class of student organizers. “This tour provides the food lover a unique and delicious view of downtown Morgantown.”

It is anticipated that tours will take approximately 1.5 hours to complete. Participants are encouraged to come early to enjoy all the stops. Since this is an alfresco walking tour, attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and bundle up.

The event will take place rain, snow or shine. For more information about the tour, a list of available parking, a full list of participating businesses or to buy tickets, visit MorgantownEats.com.
