Dean Maryanne Reed tapped to serve Eberly on interim basis

Maryanne Reed, dean of West Virginia University’s Reed College of Media, has been named interim dean of the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences, effective July 1. Rudy Almasy, who has been serving as Eberly’s interim dean, will retire on June 30.

“I am thrilled that Maryanne has agreed to step into this key role,” WVUProvost Joyce McConnell said. “Maryanne is an innovative and experienced academic leader with a track record of success.

President Gee and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital marketing executive to keynote 5th annual College of Media conference

West Virginia University President E. Gordon Gee and ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® Senior Vice President of Marketing Melanee Hannock are among the speakers at this year’s INTEGRATE 2015conference, hosted by the WVU Reed College of Media’s online Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) graduate program. Scheduled for May 29-30, INTEGRATE 2015 will offer more than 200 registered attendees from across the country the opportunity to hear from nationally recognized strategic communications speakers, exchange ideas and network with other IMC professionals.

Gee and Hannock will deliver keynote addresses at the program’s keynote dinner on May 30 at the Erickson Alumni Center. Hannock will share St. Jude’s 360-degree STORYgagement techniques, used to engage customers. President Gee will give his perspective on how a powerful brand and unified voice can help an institution connect with people in a crowded information marketplace.

WVU University Relations/News is seeking two student interns

WVU University/News is seeking two student interns to tell West Virginia University’s story using a variety of media platforms. Candidates should be at least sophomores and have strong writing skills as well as be comfortable using a variety of platforms—text, video, audio, social media, web—to tell compelling stories. In addition to providing material for wvutoday.wvu.edu and other University and external outlets, interns will participate in many UR/News operations and functions, including assisting the office administrative assistant. The position, which pays up to $8 per hour, requires the student to be available 20 hours per week, generally during normal business hours. Preference will be given to students available for at least a full academic year or more.
