Apply for the 2015-2015 WVU Reed College of Media Professional Mentorship program

Each year, a dedicated group of our alumni or friends of the College of Media offer to mentor outstanding students as they look ahead to their careers.

Starting today, you can apply to be matched with one of our professional mentors. Mentors signed up for this year work at very large media companies and communications offices including:

  • The Huffington Post
  • Carat
  • Hearst Broadcasting
  • Golin
  • Dish Network
  • West Virginia Media Holdings

New mentors are signing up each day!

If you are a Sophomore in the WVU Reed College of Media Scholars Program, you are already entitled to a professional mentor. Please complete the Scholars Program Mentorship Profile form. Please return the form to Eric Minor in room 104-B no later than September 4th at noon.

If you are a Junior, Senior or Graduate Student, you may apply for acceptance into the program. Please complete the Professional Mentorship Program application. The review process is competitive, so give good answers on your application form! You must return the form Eric Minor in room 104-B no later than September 4th at noon.

There are two other very important dates attached to this program to keep in mind if you are selected:

September 25th from 1:00-2:00 p.m., we will conduct a short meeting during which you’ll be given some instructions on how to make the most of your mentorship relationship. It will be held in Room 205 of Martin Hall.
October 2nd from 12:00- 1p.m., students accepted into the program will be expected to attend our Mentorship Meet-up (also in Room 205, Martin Hall). We’ll provide lunch and an opportunity to meet with your mentor face-to-face, if he or she is able to attend. If your mentor is unable to attend, you will be given detailed instructions on how to make your first contact with him or her. Both of these meetings are mandatory for participants in the program. If you have any questions, please contact Eric Minor.
