The WVU Reed College of Media and WVU News are being recognized for excellence in digital communication. Videos produced by Lecturer David Smith and two “WVU News” episodes recently earned platinum and gold AVA Digital Awards. The AVA Awards are an international competition that recognizes outstanding work by creative professionals involved in the concept, direction, design and production of media that is part of the evolution of digital communication. The type of work awarded ranges from audio and video production to developing interactive websites with videos, animations, and blogs to interactive social media sites to any type of user-generation communication.
Smith directed and shot platinum award-winning video Tweeting for Telescopes gold award-winning videos Making a Positive Impact and Exactly Where I Should Be. “WVU News’” Go Green episode won a platinum award, and The Many Dimensions of Diversity won a gold award.
The AVA Awards is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP). The Association administers recognition programs, provides judges and rewards outstanding achievement and service to the profession.
