The Virginias Associated Press Broadcasters Scholarship Opportunities

The Virginias Associated Press Broadcasters has several scholarship opportunities available this year:

The biennial scholarship is a $1000 award now given every year to a deserving student studying broadcast journalism at a Virginia or West Virginia college or university. The deadline for applications is  March 1, 2016 .

· Broadcast students have the opportunity to compete in the prestigious Virginias Associated Press Broadcasters Contest. Students in radio and television at Virginia and West Virginia colleges/universities that get the AP wire are eligible to compete in the College classification of the contest. They are encouraged to enter their best work in categories such as Best News, Sports, Program and Sportscast. Fees are $20 per radio entry and $30 per television entry. The deadline for entries is midnight, Feb. 12, 2016.

The scholarship winner and winners of the college categories will be recognized at the 2016 Virginias AP Broadcasters Awards Luncheon on Sat., April 23, at the Omni Hotel in Charlottesville, Virginia. They are invited and encouraged to attend this event! The VAPB is a professional organization whose members include working broadcast journalists representing all types of jobs in the field—from news directors to sportscasters to videographers to web managers and general managers. This is a great networking opportunity.
