The Virginias Associated Press Broadcasters Scholarship Opportunities

The Virginias Associated Press Broadcasters has several scholarship opportunities available this year:

The biennial scholarship is a $1000 award now given every year to a deserving student studying broadcast journalism at a Virginia or West Virginia college or university. The deadline for applications is  March 1, 2016 .

'Student Experiences of Fractured Spaces: Stories of Resistance & Resilience' event February 9

Shott Chair of Journalism Lois Raymond describes her photography exhibit, “Fractured Spaces: Stories of Resistance & Resilience brings together work focused on communities disrupted and dislocated by political and cultural conflict.” The panel event, “Student Experiences of Fractured Spaces: Stories of Resistance & Resilience,” focuses on the work of our very own Lois Raimondo.

College of Media and 'WVU News' win international video awards

The WVU Reed College of Media and WVU News are being recognized for excellence in digital communication. Videos produced by Lecturer David Smith and two “WVU News” episodes recently earned platinum and gold AVA Digital Awards. The AVA Awards are an international competition that recognizes outstanding work by creative professionals involved in the concept, direction, design and production of media that is part of the evolution of digital communication. The type of work awarded ranges from audio and video production to developing interactive websites with videos, animations, and blogs to interactive social media sites to any type of user-generation communication.

Smith directed and shot platinum award-winning video Tweeting for Telescopes gold award-winning videos Making a Positive Impact and Exactly Where I Should Be. “WVU News’” Go Green episode won a platinum award, and The Many Dimensions of Diversity won a gold award.

Media Association of Pittsburgh Scholarship Applications now available

Media Association of Pittsburgh (MAP), through its annual scholarship, is seeking applications for students pursuing an undergraduate degree in advertising, communications, marketing, public relations or related fields.

In 2016, Media Association of Pittsburgh (MAP) will provide two scholarships in the amount of $1,500.00 each. Two worthy students seeking a future career in media, advertising, communications, marketing, public relations or related fields will be awarded the scholarship (Only one $1,500 scholarship per awarded student)

WVU Reed College of Media to offer new online master's degree in Data Marketing Communications

Blending the art and science of marketing communications is the focus of a new online master’s degree in Data Marketing Communications offered by the West Virginia University Reed College of Media.

The 33-credit graduate program, approved Jan. 21 by WVU Graduate Council, is the nation’s first master’s degree focused specifically on the impact data has on marketing communications. The DMC program addresses a critical industry need for communicators who understand how to use data to drive strategic messaging and marketing communications campaigns that engage and influence audiences.

Scholarship Opportunities for the 2016-17 Academic Year

The West Virginia University Reed College of Media invites current undergraduate students with at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average to apply for scholarships for the 2016-17 academic year.

This is an especially exciting time at the College of Media, as a number of new scholarships have recently been created. Interested students must complete the Scholarship Application by 4 p.m. on February 29, 2016. Completed applications will be reviewed by the College of Media Scholarship Selection Committee. As financial need is a determinant in scholarship selection, students must also submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
