Clubs & Student Organizations
The WVU Reed College of Media hosts a variety of student organizations. These clubs offer students opportunities to engage in University activities and connect with other students and professionals nationwide. Students travel to conferences, visit top news agencies and firms, organize and participate in campus events, and network with alumni and industry leaders.
WVU Her Campus
Her Campus is a worldwide organization dedicated to filling a hole in the media market: an online magazine dedicated to, written by and focused on empowering college women. The media site is written entirely by top college journalists from 360+ chapters across 11 countries.
Public Relations Student Society of America
WVU PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America) helps build relationships between students and professional public relations practitioners. Students also gain tangible experience by working with local nonprofits in the greater Morgantown area.
WVU Association of Black Journalists
WVU ABJ (Association of Black Journalists) works to establish a strong union among minority students pursuing degrees in journalism and related fields and to provide guidance from both the NABJ and working professionals throughout the world.
Ed On Campus
WVU Ed On Campus is an organization that coordinates with aspiring magazine editors and writers at colleges nationwide to provide practical advice for finding jobs and succeeding in the magazine industry.
WVU RTDNA (Radio Television Digital News Association) focuses on educating future journalists in every aspect of the profession for television, radio, online and other industry careers. Professional speakers and industry experts work with students at WVU to develop their skills in these fields. Students also get hands-on training and experience in what it takes to make it in the world of electronic journalism.
Martin Hall Agency
The Martin-Hall Agency is a student-led integrated marketing communications agency at WVU. The agency provides students the opportunity to learn skills in creating strategy, positioning and execution for real clients through hands-on experience.
Society of Professional Journalists
WVU SPJ (Society for Professional Journalists) is a broad- based membership organization for journalists. It encourages a climate in which journalism can be practiced freely and ethically across every platform. SPJ provides networking opportunities and tangible experience for student journalists.
WVU Film Club
The WVU Film Club provides an outlet for filmmakers and film fans to discuss, show, and create every aspect of the art of film. Club members frequently collaborate on short projects and submit their work for film festivals. All experience levels are welcome! Even if you have never picked up a camera, our leaders can teach you the basics of cinematography and visual storytelling.
Association for Women in Sports Media
The WVU Association for Women in Sports Media promotes and increases diversity in sports media, advocates for sports and sports media, and supports the growth of students’ knowledge regarding the sports media industry.
