Jonathan McGee is a seasoned program manager, public affairs professional, and external affairs expert with over 5 years of non-profit, public sector, and higher education experience. He currently serves as a Community Engagement Officer for Get In Chicago, a public private collaborative aimed at reducing gun violence among acute at risk youth in Chicago's 7 neighborhoods most impacted by poverty.
As former Senior Marketing Director at the Graduate School of Political Management, he oversaw the development and execution of the marketing/recruitment strategy for the first and foremost school of applied politics, legislative affairs, strategic public relations, and global advocacy. Jonathan more than doubled application volume, and recruited our largest, most diverse fall class in 5 years. Additionally, he managed a $450,000.00 budget, and developed more than 75 organizational partnerships/sponsorships. He also organized over 150 policy/professional development events, including an inaugural “Ready To Run” program in Washington D.C. As a result, we trained over 80 young women to run for office, partnered with 18 bipartisan women’s organizations, and gained national media coverage by POLITICO. Furthermore, he spearheaded 10 paid digital/social media campaigns, delivering over 5 million impressions, and an overall CTR. of 0.26, more than five times the industry average which
Previously, Jonathan served as a Legislative Assistant for U.S Representative Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX 30). My legislative portfolio included the following issue areas: Agriculture, Energy, Education, Telecommunications, Science, Space, and Technology. He worked on the 2015 Omnibus Bill, ESSA, NASA Re-authorization, and Paris Climate Accord.
Lastly, he also worked for the Partnership for Public service, a non partisan, non profit organization that seeks to revitalize our federal government by transforming the way government works and inspiring a new generation to serve.
Jonathan holds a Bachelor's degree from Western Illinois University in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration and Political Science. He also received his masters in Political Management, from The George Washington University. He serves on the Running Start Advisory board, Grassroots Professional Network Advisory Board, Government Affairs Industry Network Program Board, and The Fund For American Studies Advisory Council.
