Maura Flynn
Share a favorite memory from your time as a Mountaineer.
A lot of my favorite memories stem from working with ESPN for three years on men's football and basketball games-- but, I had food poisoning for my first basketball game in 2018. I was the only girl on the team so I was determined to stick it out and just fighting through that says so much about being a woman in sports or a woman in any male-dominanted field.
What is the most important lesson you learned in the WVU Reed College of Media?
To take initiative. Opportunities are out there and waiting to be yours, but they're not just handed to you. A little bit of agency goes such a long way.
What is your favorite spot on campus?
My office in Martin, RIP. Or, Kristen Uppercue's living room floor working in the middle of the night.
What is your dream job or career?
Social justice communications
