Here at The (Lafayette, La.) Daily Advertiser we have a job opening for a cops&courts reporter. I’m told that the position needs to be filled ASAP, because if it’s open too long corporate (we’re a Gannett paper) will close it.
The previous reporter worked 2-10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday, but—as like all of us—mostly made her own hours. The Advertiser is a great place to work, and Lafayette is a quirky city situated in Acadiana – the region of south central Louisiana. Lafayette is very much an artsy town, with the culture, music and food the main reason people live here. The Advertiser is a mid-sized paper with about 41,000 circulation and http://theadvertiser.com usually has more than 200,000 page views per day.
I’ve worked here for a year as an education reporter and love it. There’s always tons to write about in South Louisiana and the paper encourages enterprise projects and multimedia reporting. Twitter is the newest fad.
To apply send your resume to Managing Editor Lisa Faust—lfaust@theadvertiser.com. And e-mail me at tmmacias@gmail.com if you have any questions about the city or paper.
