“WVU News,” a product of the P.I. Reed School of Journalism, recently launched a new website for the weekly, student-produced news program. Last month, it was named best student newscast in the country by the Broadcast Education Association.

The site provides School of Journalism students another opportunity to publish their work. It includes not only the latest weekly newscast, but also a Producers’ Blog, Twitter feed, student crew information, additional video clips and more.

Interested in helping out with this year’s SOJ May Commencement ceremony? Have a few friends graduating and want to be a part of it?

The SOJ is looking for student volunteers to help with executing this year’s May Commencement ceremony. The event is on Sunday, May 15, at 2:30 pm in the Morgantown Event Center.

Responsibilities:

FlowCo Applications, LLC., a mobile application design and development company in Morgantown, W.Va., has a need for communication professionals and graphic designers.

They are looking for summer interns, with the potential for continued employment. Their office is located in the United Bank building across from Ruby Memorial Hospital.

On Wednesday April 27, 2011, at 6:00 PM in the Monongahela Room in the Mountainlair, on the WVU Downtown Campus, Candace Rondeaux , International Crisis Group’s Senior analyst based in Kabul, will address the ongoing conflict and stabilization efforts in Afghanistan in a talk titled: Afghanistan_Exit vs Engagement 
A reception featuring Afghan cuisine will follow. Ms. Rondeaux will also meet with students, faculty and administrators during her visit.

Before joining ICG in 2009, Ms. Rondeaux was the Islamabad/Kabul bureau chief for “The Washington Post” and has covered criminal justice issues in Maryland and Virginia for the Post where she was part of a team of Pulitzer Prize winning reporters, photographers, and editors who helped cover the Virginia Tech shootings in 2007.

During these sessions, we will review your coursework completed to date, verify your spring registration is appropriate and examine the number of earned hours toward your degree.

The Des Moines Register is seeking top-notch graphic artist candidates to join its strong and reputable art team. The ideal candidate would be a strong visual journalist with collaborative skills to work with reporters, editors and photographers in the conception and execution of meaningful and sophisticated packages. The ideal candidate would have experience building maps and charts in news settings, as well as strong illustration and design skills.
