WCHS ABC 8/WVAH Fox 11 has a great opportunity for you! We are looking for interns for our News Department for the WINTER semester. Qualified candidates will have completed or be in their junior or senior year of college at a four-year accredited college or university. You should also be planning and preparing for a job in news. We are looking for highly motivated, serious students who will be able to help out in our newsroom. This is an unpaid internship.

"Life 101" for students and parents

A unique partnership between the Mountaineer Parents Club, WVU Career Services and the WVU Alumni Association is helping students and parents navigate their way to success – during and after college.

“Life 101,” a series of mini educational sessions, will give students tips on various topics, ranging from job hunting, budgeting, and writing a resume, to dressing/dining, life after college and finding the right major. The series is part of the 2010 Fall Family Weekend scheduled for Oct. 1-3.

WVU journalism students land major market internships

Galiotos, a broadcast news senior from Evans City, Pa., who interned for NBC News in Washington, D.C., this summer, is one of many WVU School of Journalism students who have shined on the national journalism stage with high-profile internships.

“I worked with some of the best journalists in the business,” said Galiotos. “Being there gave me an idea of what to strive for?of what I need to do to improve myself as a journalist.”

SOJ alumnus Ken Ward named to Huffington Post's "Game Changers" list

School of Journalism alumnus and Charleston (W.Va.) Gazette reporter Ken Ward, Jr. (BSJ, 1990) was recently named to The Huffington Post’s “Game Changers” in the Green category.

Recognized for his coverage of the impacts of West Virginia’s coal industry, Ward shares the honor with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa P. Jackson, actors Kevin Costner and Robert Redford, comedian Stephen Colbert, and several local activists from around the country.

Assistant needed for Associated Press sports writer

John Raby, a sports writer for The Associated Press, is looking for a sports-savvy freshmen or sophomore to assist him with various duties. This is an unpaid position.

Raby would like a student to help him gather, and transcribe, quotes from the locker room after WVU Football games. He also needs help covering both WVU men’s and women’s basketball games. Depending on the teams’ national rankings, that may involve either getting quotes in an unpaid position or possibly writing game stories, which would involve getting paid.
