WVU women are invited to join the Reed College of Media for a women of technology networking and hackathon event October 24-26. The event, “Hack the Gender Gap: A Women Hackathon on Wearables,” is sponsored by PBS MediaShift and the WVU Reed College of Media.

The WVU Reed College of Media is constantly striving to innovate through groundbreaking ideas and new media technology. Last night, three faculty members were recognized for their contributions at WVU’s second annual Innovation Awards. The awards honor innovation and impact on society through commercialization of ideas.

The Knight Foundation is issuing a call for ideas about how libraries might be used in the future. Libraries are key for improving Americans’ ability to know about and to be involved with what takes place around them. The library has been a vital part of our communities for centuries—as keepers of public knowledge, spaces for human connection, educators for the next generations of learners. While habits are changing, those needs have not. The Foundation wants to discover projects that help carry the values of libraries into the future.

There are no specific projects in mind, and this contest is open to anyone, from public libraries to universities to businesses, nonprofits and individuals. The Foundation believes passionately in the role libraries have played in helping people learn about and participate in the world around them and wants to support the next generation of that essential endeavor.

Marine Corps Community Service (MCCS) is a comprehensive program that supports and enhances the quality of life for Marines, their families, and others in the Marine Corps Community. We offer a team-oriented environment comprised of military personnel, civilian employees, contractors and volunteers who keep the organization functioning smoothly and effectively. As a service-oriented organization, we never waver in our commitment to our Corps.

This position is located at MARINE CORPS MARATHON. Candidate selected for this position will serve as a GRAPHIC COORDINATOR for MCCS.

If you anticipate graduating in December 2014, you must complete the online graduation application by Oct. 3, 2014. Students who have previously applied for graduation, but whose degree was not granted must resubmit a graduation application. If you will not complete all degree requirements by December please do not submit a graduation application at this time. Only students who will complete all requirements by the end of the fall semester will be eligible for December graduation.

This month, the WVU Reed College of Media launches its 75th year on campus with a kick-off celebration in Woodburn Circle.

The event will be held on Tuesday, September 30 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and is open to all members of the WVU community. The celebration will feature special guests President Gordon Gee and the Mountaineer mascot, hands-on activities, plenty of food and live music from U-92.
