Dr. George Esper has spent the past 10 years preparing West Virginia University P.I. Reed School of Journalism students for careers in the media industry. Now he will share his experiences as a veteran war correspondent with students at several Polish universities.
Esper—who covered the Vietnam War, the first Gulf War in 1991, as well as U.S. peace missions in Somalia and Bosnia—was invited by the U.S. Consulate in Krakow, Poland, to participate in a digital video conference discussing the ethical and legal aspects of reporting on foreign wars Oct. 19.

The Broadcast Education Association (BEA) administers fourteen scholarships annually, to honor broadcasters and the electronic media profession. The BEA Two Year Award is for study at member schools offering only freshman and sophomore instruction, or for use at a four-year member school by a graduate of a BEA two-year campus. All other scholarships are awarded to juniors, seniors and graduate students at BEA Member institutions.
Scholarships will be awarded for full-time degree work FOR THE FULL ACADEMIC YEAR. One semester grants are NOT made. Scholarships must be used exclusively for tuition, student fees, university bookstore course purchases, dormitory and related items eligible to be charged to a student’s official campus account. Current scholarship holders are not eligible for reappointment in the year following their award.
