Heinz social media internship--summer 2011

Heinz North America is seeking candidates for a Social Media Internship for summer 2011. Internship opportunity is located in Downtown Pittsburgh. 
The primary responsibility of the intern will be to manage an assigned Social Media project within the HNA Public Relations and Communications department; and support and improve the department’s social media monitoring, measurement and engagement capability, while listening for trends and opportunities/business or marketing insights in the social media space.

  • Monitor content of HNA brand social media coverage via current media monitoring tools
  • Work with PR/Communications team to enhance social media analysis via current reporting vehicles, e.g. quarterly media reports
  • Develop recommendation for reporting social media content, which will be distributed to appropriate teams, including PR/Communications, CCRC, Brand Marketing, Legal, etc.
  • Create and distribute weekly social media brand reports containing number of mentions, prominence of content/posts , tonality, media outlet type, share of voice, insights for risks and opportunities
  • Create customized, automated social media reports for each CCI brand team lead
  • Monitor wall posts on HNA brand Facebook pages, including Heinz Ketchup, Delimex and Ore-Ida
  • Create step-by-step, how-to guide for using current social media monitoring tool, Radian6; participate in weekly Radian6 training webinars and report back to supervisor/team, as needed
  • Create and maintain media list of the top blogs/bloggers most relevant to the HNA brands, including media list
  • Monitor peer/competitor/customer activity in the social media space
  • Monitor issues and trends, that are most relevant to Heinz’s business, in the social media space
  • Conduct social media audits for HNA brand teams, as needed
  • Conduct a social media audit, including ‘best-in-class’ examples of engagement within the social media space (establish industry benchmark/identify Heinz opportunities)
  • Review Facebook content calendars, social media strategies, etc., for HNA brands and provide recommendations for additional opportunities, as appropriate

Enthusiasm and passion for communications, specifically in the social media space; excellent communication skills, solid writing skills (including creative writing); strong PC skills (Word, PowerPoint); use and/or knowledge of basic social media services/tools, e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, blogs, etc.; ability to work independently but also part of a team. Education: Public relations, journalism or communications (or related field) student (junior or senior status preferred); previous public relations internship experience in a corporate or agency setting preferred but not required.
