Wanted: Marketing Coordinator Quayside Publishing Group - Cool Springs Press

Cool Springs Press published its first state-specific gardener’s guide in 1996, recognizing that the most reliable gardening information addresses the growing conditions where consumers live and garden, one of the first presses to recognize the opportunity in publishing. Since then, Cool Springs Press has grown and responded to the renewed popularity in edible gardening and the consumers need for affordable resources for gardening information.

Cool Springs Press is a subsidiary of The Quarto Group Inc. and partners with another subsidiary, Quayside Publishing Group, which includes Creative Publishing international, Fair Winds Press, Quarry, Quiver and Rockport Publishers; and MBI Publishing Company, which includes Motorbooks, Voyageur Press and Zenith Press.

Summary of job description:

Oversight of all marketing and publicity and collateral materials for Cool Springs Press titles. Implement all social media and marketing initiatives to communicate with targeted audiences in select gardening communities.

Primary Responsibilities:

Marketing Materials/Catalog:

  • Work with sales and marketing teams to contribute presentation materials as needed. May include printed fliers, emails and PowerPoint presentations
  • Liason with editorial and sales departments in order to produce advance title information (Designed Marketing pieces)
  • Oversee development of all collateral material as necessary and communicate and interact with Director of Marketing and Publicity, National Sales Reps and channel sales specialists regarding collateral distribution needs (covers, spreads)
  • Manage requests from various customers for title information for catalogs and websites
  • Provide bibliographic detail and descriptive marketing text in varying formats to many different sources for special requests
  • Oversee catalog schedule and assist in cover and spread information to marketing for catalogs

Title Information Management:

  • Access Edelweiss (backlist catalog info) to make sure all title information is correct and work with marketing manager and q solutions to have corrected (author site links)
  • Assure that all title information is update and that all title information and covers are corrected in all data feeds

Publicity /Marketing Plans:

  • Assist with fulfillment of requests for books, excerpt material, digital images, etc that helps sell and promote our books.
  • Oversee the marketing and publicity communications to Quayside and targeted markets News Flashes
  • Assist in retail and specialty sales marketing plan development
  • Work with Publisher to develop all A-list marketing plans for all new titles and marketing bullets for sales
  • Develop publicity plans for B and C list titles which may include building media lists from Cision database, and coordinating with Quayside in-house publicist if needed
  • Work with contracted publicist on all A-list publicity
  • Write press releases and pitch letters for media outlets

Online Marketing Social Media:

  • Oversight of schedule and editorial direction of new title release emails, gardenbookstore, Garden Writers Today, botanical garden newsletters, and featured books to CSP Green
  • Develop consistent communication strategy and marketing for botanical gardens and assist in building botanical garden customer base
  • Assist in developing and overseeing all social media marketing plans and schedules-coordinating all Facebook fan pages, and CSP blogs
  • Develop and oversee strategy to increase awareness of consumer site and implement plan to capture consumer names

Website Maintenance: CSP website

  • Oversight of CSP website
  • Update website information with current title information, new title releases, publicity and marketing copy

Requirements

Skills, Education, Experience:

  • College degree in marketing, public relations or related field
  • 1–3 years previous marketing experience
  • Strong knowledge and interest in gardening and related subjects highly preferred
  • Strong writing skills
  • Knowledge of and experience in implementing online social media marketing campaigns
  • Computer proficiency, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of how to use resources to build media and customer lists helpful
  • Ability to work accurately, creatively, and independently
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong verbal communication skills
