Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY), America’s premier youth leadership organization, provides leadership development programs for high school students throughout the United States and internationally and promotes political awareness, activism, and community service.
HOBY seeks an enthusiastic, well-organized individual to serve as the Program Assistant Intern at its small regional office, reporting to the Sr. Director of Programs. This position’s primary responsibility is to support the work of the Sr. Director of Programs.
Duties include: Document preparation and editing; online research; data entry and analysis; curriculum development assistance and support; handling shipping and receiving; handling post-seminar correspondence including thank you packages, donation receipts, and miscellaneous mailings; conducting award recognition evaluation and scoring; designing, printing and laminating motivational materials; other administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Completion of freshman year in college required. Interest in non-profit work. HOBY Alumnus or volunteer a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Proficient with Publisher and Access, and working knowledge of databases a plus. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail required. Ideal candidate must be flexible and have a positive “can do” attitude. Intern must have their own laptop computer for use.
Profile: This is a great first internship experience for someone from the Pittsburgh area who will be home for the summer. This employer has a solid track record of providing the experience and résumé development assistance needed to get a subsequent paying internship. Employer is flexible and understands that the intern may need to have another part-time paying job at the same time. Lunch provided when working.
