Senior Brittany Lavenski accepted the $2,000 award and a framed certificate at the PRSA-Pittsburgh Renaissance Awards Ceremony held at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh on Thursday, January 24.
The annual Renaissance Awards ceremony celebrates the “PRogress” of the past year in public relations, honoring area practitioners and organizations for excellence in public relations campaigns and tactics.
Lavenski, a Fairmont native, was awarded the scholarship based on a competitive application and nomination process. School of Journalism Assistant Professor Dr.Rita Colistra nominated Lavenski for the award and introduced her at the event.
“The fact that a student from WVU has won the award three years in a row attests to the quality of public relations students we have in our program,” said Colistra. “I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this award than Brittany.”
Past recipients from the School of Journalism include Kelli Snedegar in 2012 and Lindsay Bailey in 2011.
