The Domain to Sponsor WVU PRSSA Fourth Annual Boys and Girls Club Fashion Show

PRSSA LogoWith support from the community, the West Virginia University Public Relations Student Society of America is planning its fourth annual charity fashion show to benefit the Mountaineer Boys and Girls Club.

“This year the community has gone above and beyond to make sure this event is amazing,” said PRSSA vice president and fashion show director, Michelle Kayda. “The Domain has agreed to sponsor the event and donate directly to the Boys and Girls Club, while multiple businesses have given raffle prizes and donations.”

The MBGC provided a safe atmosphere for children to learn and improve since 1997. This year, the non-profit organization is being asked to move to a new location.

“Although we fundraise for the MBGC every year, this year is especially important,” said Kayda. “They really need the community’s help to afford a new location and continue doing the great work that they are known for, and PRSSA is so excited to help them do just that.”

The show, held in the Mountainlair Ballrooms at 7:30 p.m. on Monday (March 04) will feature clothing from Altered Ego, Park & Madison, Coni and Franc, Queens Choice, and Lavish Boutique, and will also feature hand-crafted pieces from junior Fashion Design student Allie Boisseaux. WVAQ radio personality Katie Richter will emcee the event, and seven WVU students, along with Miss West Virginia 2013, Kaitlin Gates, will model the boutiques’ clothes.

Courtney Jurasko, Leasing and Marketing Manager of The Domain, says sponsoring the fashion show not only allows The Domain to collaborate with an on-campus student organization, but also give it the opportunity to share its resources with the community.

“Funds raised from this event will create a difference in the lives of many kids,” said Jurasko. “We believe in providing the opportunity for success and seeing others succeed as well.”

PRSSA will begin $3 ticket sales in the Mountainlair on Friday (Feb 22) and end the morning of the event on Monday (March 04). Tickets will be $5 at the door of the event. All proceeds will directly benefit the MBGC.

One of the six founding chapters, WVU’s PRSSA chapter is a student-run organization that helps students access professional development opportunities and prepare for a career in public relations. The organization’s mission is to serve members by enhancing their knowledge of public relations and providing access to professional development opportunities and to serve the public relations profession by helping to develop highly qualified, well-prepared professionals.
