Eberly College at WVU seeks marketing and communications intern

The Eberly College of Arts and Sciences Communications Office is seeking one Communications and Marketing intern.

This paid position is a wonderful opportunity for a mature, self-directed, motivated student to gain experience in writing, marketing and communications, while building a marketable portfolio. Interns are expected to produce professional work for publication under the guidance of the Director of Marketing and Communications. This is a true professional writing position that the right student will find challenging and rewarding.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interview students, faculty, and administrators in order to compose press releases, web content, recruiting, and other printed materials for the College
Write articles for Eberly, the College’s bi-annual alumni magazine distributed to more than 45,000 people
Compile and distribute daily press clippings
Schedule photographic sessions, appointments, and meetings related to writing assignments
Attend and report on various college events
Update the College’s website content using Slate content management system
Generate original content for various social media platforms to promote College messaging and events; follow social media trends and craft marketing plans
Occasional general office tasks (filing, labeling, copies)

Job Qualifications:
Motivated, self-directed sophomore , junior, or senior at West Virginia University
Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills
Excellent grammar
Professional appearance and demeanor
Ability to set and meet deadlines
Knowledge of and proficiency in MLA and AP writing styles
Experience working with social media 
Knowledge of and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Past journalism/publishing experience desired but not necessary
Experience with Photoshop is helpful but not required
Ability to interact comfortably and professionally with a broad and diverse group of students, faculty, alumni, and administrators

Hours: 40 hours per week

Salary: $10 per hour

Start Date: May 13
