Sea World seeks spring or summer marketing interns for 2015

Sea Word Parks and Entertainment seeks spring or summer marketing interns for 2015. A three to six month commitment is required.

Primary Purpose:
To provide interns, within the marketing realm, with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop promotional programs that increase market sales and strategize, execute and monitor publicity efforts that effectively garner an increase in positive media coverage.

Basic Requirements:

  • Completed at least two semesters at university/college at time and have a current GPA of at least 2.25 at the time of application.
  • Earned, at least 12, non-dual enrollment credit hours at time of application with at least 6 credit hours in field discipline.
  • Ability to work up to 40 hours per week; scheduled hours and days will vary based on class schedule and business need. Hours could include weekdays, weekends, evenings and holidays.
  • Must be able to stand, walk and work extended periods of time in extreme weather conditions
  • Must be able to commit to working 12 – 24 weeks depending on selected internship program (Subject to flexibility as timeline is not guaranteed and is based on business needs)
  • Must be willing to comply with all grooming standards and SEA standards.
  • Special consideration for internship applicants with prior SeaWorld San Antonio employment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Rotate through identified disciplines including but not limited to: Consumer Activation, Sales and Public Relations. Complete related job tasks within each discipline.
  • Assist Market Manager in promotion development/execution.
  • Participate in event management and outreach.
  • Provide an overview of new event opportunities.
  • Assist with in-market tourist program rollout
  • Tour partner hotels and review consumer-centric messaging
  • Learn vacation packaging logistics
  • Participate in tourist media review
  • Write media and social media copy
  • Participate in media training
  • Assist in the development of a Public Relations event.
  • Interact with Senior Leadership to enhance knowledge of strategic plan execution and interdepartmental relationships and dynamics.
  • Effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Familiarizes self with the park to provide accurate answers to guest questions
  • Upholds a high standard of safety for self, other employees, and guests.
  • Available to work in other areas of the park as needed to support park operation.
  • Maintains a professional appearance that meets grooming standards.
  • Works as part of a team to increase productivity and while providing excellent guest service
