Communications internship

The Hispanic College Fund is seeking two unpaid, part-time Communications Interns for Fall 2009 (possibly into Spring 2010). These interns will work closely with the Director of Communications to develop and execute media strategy, produce written communications for a variety of constituent groups, and create marketing materials to build HCF’s brand identity in the education sphere.

We are currently seeking interns who can devote 10 – 15 hours per week to this position. Main responsibilities will include weekly media monitoring, compiling media lists, developing media kits, contacting media, and composing media advisories, pitches, and press releases. Occasional public policy and development-related research will also be required.

Strong writing skills are necessary and bilingual candidates are preferred. Additional requirements include working knowledge of Microsoft Office and a basic understanding of social media (i.e. Twitter, Facebook, etc.).

Successful candidates will have strong organizational skills, a willingness to learn, and will demonstrate a proactive and persistent attitude towards their work. Because these interns will be such an integral part of the communications team, they must also be reliable and responsible.

For more information, please contact Anne Guarnera, Director of Communications, at (202) 296-5400 or aguarnera@hispanicfund.org.

To apply, please submit a resume, cover letter, and writing sample of 3-5 pages for consideration. Thank you.
