The public relations department at University of Missouri Health Care is looking for a senior information specialist. The following is a position summary:
Write, edit and coordinate information for articles for Imagine (Children’s Hospital magazine), Ellis (Ellis Fischel Cancer Center magazine) and InSight (daily electronic newsletter). Coordinate publications for various health system development events. Write and edit articles for UPdate (quarterly University Physicians publication).

The WVU Philosophy Department will offer a new course in the spring. Phil 293K The Philosophy of Race will be offered on MWF 11:30 a.m.-12:20 p.m.
Course Description: We use the language of race when we describe ourselves or others as white, black, Asian, Latino/a or use other similar descriptions. However, what we are really talking about is often unclear. Is race part of our biology? Is race a cultural phenomenon? Can it simply be reduced to ethnicity? Is it even real? This course explores these questions and other related topics.
The News and Information Services department (NIS) produces stories, videos and other multimedia content to help enhance the reputation of West Virginia University. Interns at NIS have an opportunity to write press releases,work on multimedia projects and help with media events. Interns at NIS will receive experience working in a progressive public relations operation where professionals are adapting to a changing media landscape. We are no longer focused only on traditional media, but are producing our own compelling content, using our own web site and social media to connect with the audiences we care about.
Interns in the program should be strong writers who can meet deadlines. In addition to writing and working on multimedia projects, responsibilities of interns include administrative duties (answering phones, filing, etc.). The WVU P.I. Reed School of Journalism and the School of Journalism Alumni Association will host its inaugural Alumni and Donor Recognition Ceremony on Friday, Oct. 9, at 6 p.m. in Martin Hall.
The Alumni Association will present its annual awards to the best and brightest graduates and friends of the School of Journalism. Awards include “The P.I. Reed Achievement Award,” which is the highest honor the Association bestows upon a graduate of the School in recognition of his or her outstanding career achievements; “The Friend of the School Award,” which recognizes individuals for their exemplary support and commitment to the School; “The Martin Hall Cornerstone Award,” which honors School of Journalism graduates and Alumni Association volunteers; and “The P.I. Reed Young Alumni Award,” which is given to alumni who have graduated in the last 10 years and have achieved a high level of success in their profession.
Just because an organization or individual has a good story to tell doesn’t mean they know how to tell it or who to tell it to. That can be especially true of nonprofits.
