WVU seeks orientation leaders

Are you one of those Mountaineers who talks about WVU all the time? Do you enjoy showing visitors the campus? If so, we’ve got the job for you! New Student Orientation is looking for passionate, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable Orientation Leaders. Orientation Leaders serve a vital role in the day-long program. They are a selected group of students who represent the Mountaineer Spirit and WVU’s student-oriented mission. The goal of New Student Orientation is to help incoming students with the transition from high school to college and those transferring from another institution. The Orientation Leaders will show prospective students and families the downtown campus via a walking tour as well as answer questions during the tour. These positions require confidence, enthusiasm, sense of humor, excellent communication skills with a variety of personality types, familiarity with WVU programs and services, and passionate Mountaineer pride. The month of June is the primary period for NSO. New undergraduate students will participate in one of the 18 sessions offered during this month. This is a paid position with more in-office opportunities, as well as chances for establishing and improving relationships with peers and University officials. The application deadline is January 28, 2011. The application is online at http://orientation.wvu.edu/orientation_leaders/orientation_leader_application. New Student orientation staff will be available to discuss the position during the On-Campus Leadership Job Fair, January 19, 2011, in the Mountainlair Commons from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. We hope to have you as part of our Orientation Leader team for New Student Orientation!
