Career Services seeks applicants for the Mountaineer Career Ambassadors (MCA)

Purpose:

The Mountaineers Career Ambassador program is designed to provide career-development assistance to WVU students on a peer-to-peer level. MCAs are trained to participate in specific areas of the Career Services Center (CSC) including: student resume reviews, conducting mock interviews, assisting students with MountaineerTRAK, assisting with seminars and workshops, and supporting the annual events in the office including multiple career fairs per semester.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Commit to 3 hours per week at the Career Service Center for at least one full semester
  • Assist CSC administration with all components of academic courses, seminars, and guest lectures
  • Help develop strategies to increase student enrollment in courses
  • Present career-related material through guest lectures in WVUe 191, capstone courses, residence halls and student/community organizations
  • Assist with career courses offered by the CSC
  • Advise students and alumni regarding career planning, resume/cover letter writing, and interviewing techniques
  • Conduct individual mock interviews
  • Assist with all phases of career fair and event planning
  • Perform research and report market trends in various industries and to CSC administrators and career counselors
  • $250 stipend

Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled at WVU
  • Minimum of 30 credit hours, 3.0 GPA minimum
  • Exhibit excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Well-developed public speaking skills
  • Possess an interest in career counseling, program development, and/or best practices research
  • Applicant must dress and behave professionally, be self-motivated and responsible, and be dependable and punctual
  • Average computer skills are required and advanced computer skills are a plus
