Mountain Line internship opportunity

Position: Marketing Intern, Summer 2011

Goal: The Monongalia County Urban Mass Transit Authority (DBA Mountain Line Transit Authority) is seeking two motivated interns to develop several short videos that will easily describe to visitors and residents of Monongalia County and the City of Morgantown how to ride public transportation.

Objective: One hurdle most people face in riding public transportation is the overwhelming feeling that the system is complicated and cumbersome. With these videos we hope to educate them about the system and remove this barrier.

Duties: Students will be expected to conduct the planning, taping and editing and delivery of the videos in a format suitable for posting online.

Skills: The students should have junior or senior student status in Journalism and ideally a major in Integrated Marketing Communications. Students must have excellent time management, communication and organizational skills. Applicants must be proficient in multimedia software and editing programs. The student should be able to work independently and with others, follow directions, and meet deadlines.

Opportunity: This Internship offers an excellent opportunity to build your portfolio, videos will be posted to the Authority’s website, YouTube, the Authority’s Facebook page, links will be Tweeted and a press release regarding the videos will be sent out through local media outlets and partners of Mountain Line. We offer a reasonably flexible schedule, and will be worked out according to the student’s academic schedule, approximately 10 hours a week will be expected of the student. Preliminary planning will be performed in the Westover Administrative Office, taping will be performed at the Westover Office, Downtown Depot and any other location necessary for the project.

Compensation: Internship will begin ASAP and will continue through the summer until Friday August 5, 2011. Students will be paid $75 bi-weekly.

Equipment: Students are not required to provide their own equipment.
