TerraCycle Public Relations Internship - Fall 2011

Our model provides consumers and communities with a system to collect their waste and then convert this waste into new, eco-friendly products. We also give back to the community by paying an average of 2¢ per unit of waste collected to charity on behalf of the collectors. TerraCycle currently partners with over 70 brands of the world’s largest consumer conglomerates including: Nestle, Johnson & Johnson, L’Oreal, BiC and Kraft in 12 countries including the US, Brazil, Mexico, Canada, Argentina, Israel, France, Germany, Ireland, Sweden, Turkey and the UK. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

-Drafting and distributing high quality, effective press releases and pitches.
-Pitching TerraCycle’s story and products to Broadcast/Print/Online media sources by phone and email
-Marketing TerraCycle Upcycling Program to local organizations or recruiting local stories
-Writing some copy for products and website.
-Using media databases and media tracking systems

Requirements:

-Excellent writing and communication skills.
-High level of energy and passion.
-Working towards degree in marketing, public relations, communications or equivalent field.
-Experience with Excel and Power Point a plus.
-Position reports to TerraCycle’s VP, Media Relations in New Jersey.

Compensation and Other Details:

-Internships are unpaid and are based in Trenton, NJ
-The program will cover your lunch expenses and select work related expenses as needed
-The internship will run during Fall 2011 semester (dates will vary)
-Academic Credit can be arranged in conjunction with your college/university
