Temporary Editorial Designer wanted

Upscale city-regional lifestyle magazine based in Springfield, Mo., seeks an editorial designer for five-month temporary hire during a designer’s maternity leave. The editorial designer is responsible for the visual layout of all 417 publications—including editorial design, page imposition, and photoshoots for 417 Magazine (monthly), along with 417 Bride (published twice a year) and 417 Home (published quarterly). The job offers a chance to work with a small, close-knit team in shaping each publication.

Duties include page design, directing photo shoots, photo research, some production, as well as collaborating with an assistant art director, photographers, illustrators, interns and models. Commissioning high-quality photos and illustrations, along with a superior understanding of typography, is a must. Experience doing infographics, maps and illustrations is a plus. Be a Mac wiz (OS X) who knows Adobe In-Design, Photoshop and Illustrator perfectly. Be a team player, organized, self-motivated, firm about deadlines and have an intense creative vision. We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package. E-mail cover letter, résumé and digital portfolio to Bethany@417mag.com. To learn more about the magazine, go to www.417mag.com.
