ProPublica seeks research intern

ProPublica is seeking a research intern to start in January and work until at least June. The internship is full-time, based in New York and pays $700 a week. Experience with and enthusiasm for public records research and databases (Nexis, Pacer, Accurint, Factiva, etc) is a plus. The research intern would play a key role supporting the newsroom on both ad hoc requests and long-term projects.

The research intern will work with the Director of Research, reporters and editors.

Temporary Editorial Designer wanted

Upscale city-regional lifestyle magazine based in Springfield, Mo., seeks an editorial designer for five-month temporary hire during a designer’s maternity leave. The editorial designer is responsible for the visual layout of all 417 publications—including editorial design, page imposition, and photoshoots for 417 Magazine (monthly), along with 417 Bride (published twice a year) and 417 Home (published quarterly). The job offers a chance to work with a small, close-knit team in shaping each publication.

Duties include page design, directing photo shoots, photo research, some production, as well as collaborating with an assistant art director, photographers, illustrators, interns and models. Charlotte, N.C., NPR affiliate seeks reporter intern for summer 2012

WFAE-FM, the NPR affiliate in Charlotte , N.C., is hiring for a 10-week reporting internship for the summer of 2012. The successful applicant will be a general assignment reporter based in Charlotte .

We are looking for a top college student who has experience in broadcast and online journalism. The successful candidate will be expected to write, produce and voice stories. The intern will work closely with an editor and draw a variety of assignments for broadcast and the web. A familiarity with public radio is preferred.

2011 Mr. and Ms. Mountaineer host annual blood drive

The WVU Mr. and Ms. Mountaineer, Ryan Butler and Katlin Stinespring, will host the second Mr. and Ms. Mountaineer Blood Drive on Jan. 19.

The blood drive, which is in partnership with the American Red Cross and Mountaineer Maniacs, will require at least 100 individuals to donate from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Mountainlair Ballrooms.
